Ioanna Koukou is a Registered Marriage and Family Psychotherapist and since October 2016 she is certified EFT Therapist. She is one of the five members professional group that co-founded the EFT Greek Network in 2012, along with Kyriaki Polychroni, ICEEFT Certified EFT Trainer. Since then she has contributed to all training events of the Network.

She initially studied sociology receiving an M.A. in Criminology and then went on to obtain an M.Med. Sc. in Social Psychiatry from the Medical School of Ioannina in Greece.

Ms Koukou trained in systemic group and family psychotherapy, initially at the Laboratory for the Study of Human Relations (LSHR) and then at the Athenian Institute of Anthropos (AIA).

She is a Certified Psychotherapist by the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP). She is a member of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA), Member of the Greek Association of Systemic Psychotherapy (EL.E.SY.TH.)

In 1995, with her husband, George Bardanis, Psychiatrist-Psychotherapist, Ioanna Koukou co-created the Psychotherapeutic Centre for Human Development (ANELIXI), where she works to date, providing therapy to individuals, couples and families.

In her earlier years of professional development, she focused her work in the domain of drug addiction and dependency treatment, based on the principles of the Therapeutic Community Model.

She is a Certified Consultant for Drug addiction (International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium – IC & RC) and a Member of ITACA – the European Association of Specialists in Drug Addiction, where she has served as a member of its Board of Directors.

As a founding member of KETHEA – the nationwide Therapy Center for Dependent individuals she worked (1983 to 1995) in positions of responsibility for treatment and prevention programs. In 1992 she created the therapeutic community, “Nostos”.
